Hope and Dreams

HOPE AND DREAMS

Allie breathed deeply as she walked in the bar. She was full of hope, full of dreams. Maybe today would be her lucky day. Maybe today, she would get her first gig.

Her hand clutching the handle of her guitar case, she made her way through the empty seats. She had been here before; the minute the sun set, people came pouring, looking for a drink or some entertainment. It was weird to see it under the glow of the sun, so silent, so dead.

At the bar, beautiful blonde Sandy was cleaning glasses and checking the inventory.

“Chuck around? Said I could stop by.”

Sandy looked up and smiled. She had a kind smile, even though the nights weren’t always kind to her.

“He’s in his office in the back, sweetie. Go ahead, he’s waiting for you.”

Allie started feeling butterflies in her stomach; she had never performed in front of anyone before. She wondered if she knew what she was signing up for, but she remembered she needed the money. Hopes and dreams.
