THE CITY OF LIGHT
Every night, I see her. There she is, smiling at me, like nothing ever happened to her. Like she didn’t die by the hand of a trusted friend, like she never suffered of loss. She takes my hand and guides me through stone halls, and we talk. She asks me how I am, how are things “back home”. I tell how I am struggling with stubborn friends who won’t listen to my warnings, and she helps me. I tell her how much I miss her, and she kisses me.
At dawn, she says she has to leave me. She takes the stairs and disappears through the illuminated gates without even looking back. I can’t follow her, the light is too blinding. Then, I wake up.
Every morning, I lose her. The only way I make it through the day, through the pain, is knowing she will be there, waiting for me, in the City of Light.
To those who wonder, this is indeed dedicated to our favourite Commander. RIP. – Alixa
